halloween wreaths

guess who is getting
halloween happy
finally
the mantle is nearly complete
costumes are in full planning stage
and
the kitchen is awash
in frightful projects
but for me
no holiday is official
until the wreaths are up
this year
i went simple
starting with wreaths
already aflutter in feathers
i  added a little bling
feather wreath, paper crow sprinkled in silver glitter

feather wreath, styrofoam skulls covered in silver glitter, silk flowers

gum wrapper wreath

i'm probably aging myself
by admitting
that a favorite past-time of mine
as a kid
was making gum wrapper chains
i just loved it
sadly
sticks of gum
are not easily found anymore
but
colorful paper is
and
it works just as well
for a tutorial on how to fold
i cut the heart shape from a box
and wrapped it in pink ribbon
then wrapped it again
in gum wrapper chain
rather loosely,
to give it a "bubbled" effect
this is not a quick craft
i folded about 5000 papers for this wreath
i suggest
getting the whole family involved

because candy isn't just for eating

i'm anticipating
a parade of ants
i grabbed this idea for a gumdrop wreath from tatertots and jello
this i came up with on my own
with a little help from the cheap candy aisle at the drug store

* these are really simple to do. all you need is a glue gun, a foam wreath and hands made of asbestos.  i think one made of lemon drops would be so adorable!
--the peppermint wreath is 12"  foam with a flat back.  it took approximately 2 1/2 bags (1lb 9oz each) of Bob's Sweet Stripes.  The back is not covered.
**if you are having difficulty getting the mints to adhere to the foam, try wrapping the wreath in ribbon first, then glue the mints to the ribbon
