Wanderlust

i suffer greatly from
wanderlust
i was born with it
and
i will die with it
it is a part of me
of which
i am proud
currently
hubster and i
are just about smack dab
in the middle of a 3 week road trip
a road trip that has moved us from the
kitch of alien lamposts in roswell
to the
swamp of rural louisianna
a mississippi cabin
and
main street of music city
 it has simply been
dreamy

one of the great rewards of
wanderlust
is regional cuisine
and we have been willing participants
in the culinary treasure hunt
i share with you a few photos
of what we have uncovered

envy at your leisure
pecan smoked pork loin in texas
amazing guacamole fixed river-side in san antonio
red beans and rice in new orleans
the pride of calhoun city--caramel cake
swett's in nashville--smothered southern goodness

wanderlust---get in your car and get you some!

I am participating in alphabe-thursday
over at
you should go check it out
and see what all the fun is about
this week

  3. Hi Christy,

I've also been on the River Walk in San Antonio. Also went on a boat to check the outdoor theatre. Love your wanderlust post and especially your caramel cake. Where can I find the recipe? Please, please, please!!!

  9. I've been awake all night so I could devour all you've shown us. I am a Southern girl though I've lived and traveled all over. I went to nursing school in New Orleans and lived there for several years after...San Francisco has been my home for 33 years now. I think both those cities have the best eating in the US.

In my hometown of Columbus, GA, there used to be a bakery that made the most fabulous caramel cake with a frosting that looked like that! I've not seen another in years.

    Safe travel.

At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!
( Poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well )

  11. Oh to be able to travel around the states like that. I will have to go with friends when I retire because my hubs is a homebody. I can get him to take a long weekend away once a year and that is it. Its pretty sad because he gets almost 4 weeks vacation. He uses it to work around the house, help our grown daughters with work around the house and a little golf now and then.

  14. OK, I'm gonna be honest here.

I could barely read your words for drooling over the picture of that caramel cake.

What a wonderful stop on our journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "W".

Not only did you make me starving but you brought back many happy memories of trips to the same places.

Alas, though, I have never had caramel cake!

Thanks for helping make these meme so wickedly awesome!

  16. What a wonderful trip. There are gastronomical delights to be found everywhere, but I think the South has the best food per square inch of anyplace! Great photos, I'm drooling over that caramel cake. I feel Mississippi calling me home :) Kathy
